Most Filipino editors find their first foreign client on a bidding platform, and most of them stay there longer than they should. The work is real, but so is the 10% cut, the race to the lowest bid, and the weeks spent writing proposals nobody reads. This page is about the other route: getting in front of companies that are already hiring, on the strength of your edits, with nothing taken from what you earn.

What international companies are actually hiring for

The demand from the US, UK and Australia is not for "a video editor". It is for specific, repeatable output:

• Short-form for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Captions, pacing, hooks in the first two seconds. DTC brands need 15 to 30 of these a month.
• Ad cutdowns. One long shoot turned into a 6, 15 and 30 second version, each with its own opening.
• UGC-style edits. Raw creator footage cleaned up, subtitled and formatted per platform.
• YouTube long-form. Talking-head and B-roll assembly, chapter markers, thumbnails as a bonus.
• Podcast clips. Multicam cuts with animated captions, five to ten per episode.

If your reel shows three of these done well, you are already ahead of most applicants a marketing manager sees. If it shows a wedding highlight, a school project and a travel montage, they cannot tell whether you can do their job.

Why your reel matters more than your résumé

What to put in the three pieces

You get up to eight portfolio items, but the first three decide whether a reviewer keeps going. A reliable set:

1. One short-form piece with captions, vertical, under 45 seconds. Show the hook.
2. One cutdown or ad, ideally the 15-second version next to the original if you have it.
3. One longer edit that shows pacing over three to eight minutes. YouTube or a podcast clip works.

Host them on YouTube or Vimeo and paste the link into the application. A Behance or Google Drive link is accepted too, but embeds play in the profile and a link does not. Leave out anything you did not edit yourself.

How the money works

Companies pay $25 to unlock your contact details, or a monthly plan. You pay nothing: no listing fee, no percentage, no credit purchase. Once they have your email, the rate and the terms are between you and them. For reference, companies on the hiring side of this site are told to expect $800 to $2,200 a month for a full-time Filipino editor, and project or per-video rates for short-form volume are agreed directly. Nobody at ResourceMatch takes a share of it.

If a company unlocks you and you do not reply within 48 hours, they get their credit back. That is the one obligation: check your inbox.

Availability is a weekly question, not a checkbox

Once a week you get one email asking whether you are still available. Answer it and you stay in the "available now" filter, which is the one most companies use. Miss it for two weeks and you drop out of that filter until you answer. Nobody chases you for work you cannot take, and companies do not message editors who went quiet a month ago.

No. Joining is free and stays free. The company pays to reach you; nothing is charged to you and we take no percentage of what you agree with them.

Do I need to speak on camera or do an interview?

No. The application is your name, email, discipline, years of editing and at least three pieces of work. A person reviews the work.

What if my portfolio is not approved?

We tell you. Most rejections are for portfolios that do not show enough finished, self-edited work; you can reapply once you have it.

Can I keep my Upwork or Fiverr clients?

Yes. Talyer is a roster companies browse, not an exclusive agency. Nothing stops you working through other channels at the same time.
